From Tuesday 13 to Monday 19 November 2012, Uley Stores closed its doors and underwent a week of refurbishment. It included a completely re-organised floor plan, new furniture and fittings, equipment, a new floor and lick of paint.
The Post Office “cage” was dismantled and the postal services area moved to the other side of the 400 sq ft store. New chiller cabinets were installed and a wooden floor and wood surfaces introduced for a smart new look and feel.
With the till moved too there is now more space for stock and the new layout allows a smoother, freer-flowing experience for customers.
Trade continued however, with Cathy’s van installed outside selling essentials such as bread, milk and newspapers.
The hard work has paid off and we now have a spruced up, spacious and bright new store interior, thanks to many volunteers and many hours of labour.
